This position relies on an organic mentorship model built on direct project exposure and collaboration with experienced industry professionals to develop specialized expertise in substation engineering and Protection & Control (P&C) systems.

Position Focus

This role is responsible for designing and executing substation projects across transmission, distribution, and generation environments, with a focus on relay panels and Protection & Control (P&C) systems. Successful candidates are detail-oriented engineers who are committed to developing deep technical expertise within a specialized utility engineering discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Substation Design & Engineering

  • Perform standards maintenance and execute formal utility design reviews through the 30%, 60%, and 90% design stages.
  • Develop and manage complex substation design packages across transmission, distribution, and generation projects.
  • Ensure accurate system integration across physical, electrical, and electronic design scopes.

Project Execution & Technical Leadership

  • Coordinate technical design activities while maintaining compliance with utility standards and project requirements.
  • Support transformer replacements, line switch upgrades, and other complex utility infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to deliver complete and accurate design packages.

Mentorship & Professional Development

  • Provide guidance, technical support, and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
  • Promote engineering best practices and contribute to the continued development of Albrecht Engineering's technical capabilities.

Key Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical experience in substation design and Protection & Control (P&C) environments.
  • Strong understanding of utility engineering standards, design review processes, and substation infrastructure.
  • Ability to manage complex technical projects while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with engineering teams and utility clients.
